Exotic Sheep Breeds in India

Exotic Sheep Breed - Suffolk:


Suffolk breed is native to United Kingdom (UK).
This sheep breed is a large size animals.
Most of this bree sheep has black face and ear & legs.
There won't be any wool on head and ears of this breed.
Both male suffolk and female suffolk sheep are polled.
These sheep raised fro both wool and meat. However, female sheep are excellent milkers and they are very prolific breeds.
One can obtain on an average wool yield of 2 to 3 kg.
The weight gain of this breed is very good and male sheep can attain a mature weight of 100 to 130 kg where as female sheep can attain a weight of 75 to 100 kg.

Hydroponically Grown Grass For Sheep



Well, as we all know the feed / fodder / forage is one of the major components of Sheep farming and the fodder management is a key factor in successful and profitable Sheep farming. Green fodder plays major role in feed of milch animals, thereby providing required nutrients for milk production and health of the dairy animals. Commercial Sheep farmers should have enough land to grow green fodder crops such as hybrid grasses and legume crops. When we grow green fodder crops in open fields, it requires labour and other costs to produce the forage in our field. For healthy Sheep rearing, the fodder should good nutrients as well. In many places, due to climatic conditions or non-availability of land succulent grass is not available for Sheep throughout the year in many regions in India. This condition forces to think of different system to produce green fodder for Sheep throughout the year irrespective of climatic conditions and land availability.
